Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship Practice Notes from Lime Rock

Friday Practice Notes at Lime Rock

- The Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championships makes its first visit to Lime
Rock Park since 1994 for the Mohegan Sun Presents the Lime Rock Grand Prix.
- Joining the series at Lime Rock are No. 13 Kniffin, No. 18 Levy, No. 27
Fierberg, No. 36 Hansen, No. 58 Chu,  No. 90 Wright, No. 94 A.R. Guibord,
No. 95 A. Guibord and No. 96 Cruz.
- The Zetec Championship cars take to the track for the first of two
20-minute practice session at 10:30 a.m.
- It is misting and the track is very slick.
- Several cars have gone off-course in the opening stages of the practice
session.
- Numerous drivers are reporting that they have almost no traction at
several corners.
- While cars continue to go off-course, times are steadily dropping.
- No. 12 Gue is in the pits to replace the nose which he has damaged.
- No. 27 is in the pits to examine damage from an excursion off course.
- The rain has stopped, though the track remains very slick.
- At the conclusion of the session, No. 24 D. Prendeville, No. 3 Barber and
No. 9 Kasemets have posted the fastest times. No. 95 A. Guibord posted the
fastest American Continental Championship time.
- Between the first and second practice sessions, several cars are changing
gears and making changes to car setup.
- The second practice session commences at 1:55 p.m.
- The track is now dry.
- Approximately half the field rolls out on wet tires and immediately pits
to change to slicks.
- As the drivers become more familiar with the track, the times are steadily
dropping.
- A lot of cars are running in traffic, due to the track only being
1.53-miles in length.
- Late in the session, No. 8 Baltzer makes contact with an ACC car and
slides down the downhill on the inside of the course.
- No. 91 Kimball strikes No. 8 and goes into the tire barrier hard in turn
seven. The driver has exited the car unhurt.
- The session is red flagged due to the contact between No. 8 and No. 91.
- The checkered flag is thrown, as it will take the entire time remaining in
the session to clear the track.
- No. 23 Bomarito, No. 7 Welk and No. 91 have the top-three times. No. 37
Dona posts the fastest ACC time.
- No. 8 has damage to the front wing and right front corner.
- No. 91 has extensive damage to the rear of the car and the nose box.
- Qualifying for Saturday's race one of the doubleheader commences at 5:15
p.m.
