FANS OF JIMMY KITE LAUCH SITE TO SUPPORT INDY RACER
INDIANAPOLIS, May 23, 2003 - Indianapolis 500 driver Jimmy Kite received one
of the ultimate accolades of his racing career today. A web site,
www.JimmyKiteFans.com, created and supported entirely by fans of the
Stockbridge, Georgia driver was launched this morning. JimmyKiteFans.com is
the unofficial Internet resource for fans and supporters of the popular open
wheel ace to get the latest news, schedule and photos of the 27-year old
driver. A unique, optional email news release list is featured that will
allow fans to receive, through their personal email account, press releases
and news about the fastest qualifying rookie in the 1998 Indianapolis “500”.
While an unofficial site, it is strongly endorsed by Kite and will receive
information, photos and more from Jimmy Kite Motorsports. Jill Pochik, a
devoted IndyCar race fan, is the spark behind the project and is the site’s
creator and web master.
“This is a great honor,” commented Kite from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
where he is preparing to make his fourth start in the classic 500-mile
event. “When Jill asked me about doing the site I was really surprised and
excited. To have someone take such an interest in your career and offer to
put up a site like this is a really, really big honor. She has done a great
job with it and I am proud to tell people to go and check it out. The fans
are what this job is all about and what this site is all about. This is one
of the biggest compliments I’ve gotten since I started racing. People don’t
do this unless they really believe in you.”
“We have been fans of Jimmy’s since he started in the IRL,” offered Pochik
about her reason for starting the site. “I felt a driver of Jimmy’s talent
really deserved a site where his fans could go out and learn all about him,
keep up with his schedule and more. Jimmy is one of the most popular drivers
in the IRL not just because he is so talented but also because he is so open
to his fans. We hope that this site will help people follow all that he is
racing from Indy cars to sprint cars to the Silver Crown.“
Kite began his career racing quarter-midgets at the age of eight and worked
his way up through mini-sprints, USAC midgets, sprint cars and Silver Crown
cars to the Indy Racing League. He is a five-time national champion in
various open-wheel series with countless victories. He has a career total of
22 Indy Racing events and $1,232,000 in career IRL earnings. He will be
making his fourth Indianapolis 500 on May 25th from the 32nd position
driving the #18 Royal Spa/ PDM Racing Dallara-Chevrolet.
