Revolution Motorsports Lime Rock Preview
Detroit – May 21, 2003 – As the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich
Tires Cup pulls into Lime Rock Park for the Mohegan Sun Presents the
Lime Rock Grand Prix, Stu Hayner can only think about what could have
been in the 2002 version of this popular east coast stop on the tour.
“Lime Rock was the first race this team really came together. Putting
the car on the pole proved what we are capable of,” said Hayner, driver
of the #2 Trenton Forging/GMAC Commercial Finance Corvette. “We were so
strong. The car wasn’t necessarily up on power, but we had the set-up
nailed. I could put the car anywhere I wanted. On this track that gives
you confidence and that’s an added weapon that’s tough to beat.”
Hayner’s rookie teammate, Bobby Sak [#10 Revolution Motorsports
Corvette] hopes to capitalize on the #2 car’s history here.
“It’s going to help a lot knowing we were strong here last year,” said
Bobby. “Last week in Mosport Stu and I were really able to share a lot
of information. I think that was helpful for Shane [Duhaime, Revolution
Motorsports Crew Chief] in finding the best set-up. I’m learning how to
compare information with Stu and in turn, express to Shane what’s
working and what’s not. I think we’ll continue to improve on that as
the season goes on.”
Hayner agreed. “Bobby is really becoming a great asset as a teammate.
Last week at Mosport we had a rhythm going early on in the race. It had
to be the most fun I’ve had in years. It’s very rewarding to watch
Bobby’s progress. I’ve seen some pretty impressive driving from him.”
Team owner, Don Sak, on returning to Lime Rock; “Coming back to Lime
Rock is bittersweet. This is the track where our team had its first big
success and its first big heartbreak. But, looking back, it was the
start of something great. It established character that our team
continued display all season long. Today they handle the challenge like
the professionals they are. I guess it’s why winning is so difficult
and why it feels so good. We’ll get there… I have no doubt.”
Sak also had comments about the team and Bobby’s performance. “You have
no idea how exciting it is to watch Bobby and Stu work together. It’s a
great fit. Together they bring tremendous synergy to the process of
finding the right set-ups. And their relationship spills over to the
camaraderie of the crew.”
