ADVISORY/ZiLOG Highlights its Focus on Automotive Applications with Winning Scottish Rally Car

    ZiLOG, Inc. (OTCBB:ZILG), one of the leading providers of 8-bit microcontrollers, is sponsoring a rally car in the 2003 New Pig Scottish Rally Championship. The company, already a winner with customers in the automotive applications space, is sponsoring the car as a symbol of ZiLOG's many design wins in the automotive sector. The New Pig Rally is one of the most challenging rally series' in the British Isles.
    The ZiLOG rally car, which is a Subaru Impreza, can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in five seconds (on gravel) and can achieve a top speed of around 130 mph. The nine-race rally championship includes eight races on gravel roads and one on paved public roads that will be closed for the race.
    The series, which began in Inverness in February, includes races in Jedburgh, Aberdeen, Dunoon, Dumfries, Edinburgh, Perth, Elgin and Newton Stewart. The entire championship is televised and is slated to be is transmitted both by Scottish television and the BSkyB satellite network to an estimated 300,000 people.
