Top Trans-Am Driver Ruhlman fourth at Mosport Race

TOP TRANS-AM DRIVER RANDY RUHLMAN FOURTH AT MOSPORT TRANS-AM RACE

Greensboro, NC( May 18) - Top Trans-Am driver Randy Ruhlman drove to a
fourth place finish today in the Trans-Am series race at Mosport
International Raceway for the BFGoodrich Cup. Ruhlman, the 2002 winner of
the BBS Wheels ³Most Improved Driver of the Year², campaigned the familiar
#49 blue and white Preformed Line Products/Coyote Closure Chevrolet Corvette
up to fourth from his ninth place starting spot. Ruhlman, who made his
129th start in Trans-Am, lead the honors for Chevrolet and Corvette, with
the first three spots taken by Jaguar.

Rain effectively cancelled practice for the BFGoodrich Trans-Am series on
Friday at the 2.459 mile, 10-turn track, located just outside of Toronto,
Ontario, Canada. Saturday morning¹s qualifying was delayed until late
Saturday afternoon. The Mosport Trans-Am 100 mile race will be broadcast in
the United States on SPEED Channel on May 25th.

This is the third year in a row that Ruhlman has finished in the top Five at
this track. After the race, Ruhlman said, ³I think this is a good finish,
but I just didn¹t have enough car to keep up with Miller, or get past Lewis.
I might have had a chance to get Lewis at the restart, but it just didn¹t
happen.²

³I also think we suffered overall from the lack of practice, due to the rain
on Friday. We are trying to find the right setup for this car, but it still
had a real push in it. I couldn¹t adjust it away, so I just had to try to
drive around it. Near the end of the race, I started having trouble coming
off the corner onto the back straight, so I knew that I was going to have to
settle for fourth.²

³Unfortunately, I can¹t help thinking that I am stuck in a rut here at
Mosport, finishing fourth or fifth. But I guess there are worse ruts to be
in. Our goal this year is to be on the podium every race. I do feel we have
more work to get there, though. We learned a lot about the car and set up
and we are back where we should be running, in the top Five. Lime Rock is in
five days, so we are definitely in a. position for a podium there.²

Ruhlman is driving this year in BFGoodrich Trans-Am Series for Minneapolis
based, Derhaag Motorsports for. The team has fielded many successful
drivers, including top Trans-Am drivers Justin Bell, Kenny Wilden, Tony Ave,
Dorsey Schroeder, Chris Neville and Darin Brassfield. Jim Derhaag himself

move to full time ownership in 1998.
