AFL Automotive Employee Honored for Outstanding Community Service

ALLEN PARK, Mich., May 16, 2003 -- Carol Doppke, a CAD Designer for AFL Automotive, received the Cheers Award presented by the United Way of Greater Detroit. The award was presented at a ceremony held April 29, 2003 at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan. The ceremony attended by 1,100 people included guest speakers Nick Scheele, President and COO of Ford Motor Company, and Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick.

The Cheers Award recognizes one employed volunteer nominated by their employer for outstanding community service. The recipient receives a $1,000 check payable to the non-profit organization of their choice.

Carol was instrumental in leading efforts in 2002 with the Capuchin Soup Kitchen located in Detroit. She organized and led a team of her AFL co- workers to volunteer time on more than one occasion, secured $4,000 for the soup kitchen through the Alcoa Foundation Grants program, held clothing drives, and collected additional contributions from co-workers during the holiday season.

"Carol's motivation and dedication to helping others has not only impacted the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, it has strengthened the family spirit of her co- workers," said Bob Migrin, Director of AFL Component Engineering.

AFL Automotive, an Alcoa business, is a global industry leader and full- service supplier of complete electrical distribution architecture, delivering a complete range of expert capabilities in design, engineering, testing and manufacturing.
