Intier Integration Adds Spark to Award-Winning Cadillac Interior

DETROIT, May 16, 2003 -- When officials at the Auto Interiors Show announced the Cadillac CTS as Interior of the Year in the car category, people at Intier Automotive Inc. had reason to smile. Intier is the supplier integrator for the CTS and played a vital role in the development and launch of the vehicle, General Motors' first under an innovative approach to interior sourcing known as supplier integration.

The CTS was chosen by a "people's choice" format with online voting of five car and five truck finalists. Winners were selected on the basis of appearance (styling, color, material, and fit and finish); functionality (comfort, convenience and safety); innovation (surprise and delight factors); and overall impression of the vehicle in motion and at rest.

"As the interior integrator on the CTS, Intier offers congratulations for a job well done to the entire GM and Cadillac team," said Thomas Apostolos, Interiors group president. "We are proud to be associated with the vehicle and thank GM for the opportunity to play such a vital role in this breakthrough program."

Since the award of the CTS in 1997, Intier has worked closely with GM to define and evolve supplier integration. Greater upfront involvement at the vehicle level, as opposed to the partition level which is more traditional, has enabled Intier to become an advocate for the total interior. The end result in this increasing level of involvement is the creation of an interior environment with greater overall harmony.

"We are pleased to be involved with the evolution of supplier integration," remarks Don Walker, Intier Automotive president and CEO. "The CTS award reinforces the belief we have in the interior integration process, and is evidence that, when working closely together with General Motors, we can achieve higher levels of craftsmanship within the vehicle interior."

Intier is also working closely with the Cadillac team to execute two additional vehicles. The interior components minus seats for these programs will be assembled and sequenced into GM's Lansing Grand River plant from Holt, Michigan. Dakkota Integrated Systems, a minority business enterprise, is a joint-venture operation between Rush Trucking and Intier Automotive Interiors and currently handles the CTS as well as several other Intier programs.
