Stu Hayner Mosport Preview
Looks to reap benefits of “driver’s” track
Detroit – May 14, 2003 – Stu Hayner and the #2 Trenton Forging / GMAC
Commercial Finance Corvette for Revolution Motorsports will head to
Mosport with high hopes of kicking the season in gear. Hayner feels
this is the perfect track to put the team back on pace for the 2003
Championship drive in the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup.
“Mosport is a driver’s track,” said Hayner. “If you have the nerve you
can make up a lot of time here. It’s a fast track with a couple of
sections that pay big dividends. If you can hold on and like that sort
of thing, it’s a ball. If you’re faint of heart… you’re going to be
backing up.”
“We ran really well here last year, Hayner continued. Even though a
stop and go penalty put us back a bit, we were very fast.”
Hayner is currently tied for 5th in the championship points. While that
is ahead of last year’s pace, the team is well aware of the challenge
ahead of them.
“We haven’t been able to find the momentum we had the last half of the
season in 2002,” Hayner remarked. “We’ve been chasing some odd problems
and we’re pretty confident we’ve beat them.”
“Obviously, we’ve got our hands full with the Jaguars this year,”
commented Hayner. “The first two races may have favored their aero
package, so we’re hoping the Corvette can draw on its low drag on the
high speed sections here. The bottom line is, we’ve got to pick up
ground here and next week in Lime Rock. Hopefully, the car is back on
pace and we can get a true picture of what we’re dealing with in the
aero department.”
The Mosport event runs May 18th in Bowmanville Ontario, just outside
Toronto. The Trans-Am Series is the feature race on the program that
also features the SPEED World Challenge Series. The Trans-Am race at
Mosport will air tape delayed on SPEED Channel May 25th providing fans
with a weekend double header as the Lime Rock Park Trans-Am race will
air live on May 26th.
Trenton Forging, in association with Revolution Motorsports, competes
as part of the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. All
events are nationally televised on SPEED. The Trans-Am Series is the
oldest form of American sports car racing.
