Johnny Miller Mosport Release

MILLER A CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER GOING INTO MOSPORT
Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada - After a second place finish at the Toyota
Grand Prix of Long Beach, Johnny Miller is only 11 points out of first place
in the Drivers' Championship. Miller, driver of the No. 64 Eaton
Cutler-Hammer Jaguar XKR, is ready to give point's leader Scott Pruett a run
for his money during round three of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich
Tires Cup at the Victoria Day SCCA Trans-Am race weekend at the Mosport
International Raceway, May 16-18, 2003.
"Mosport is one of my favorite tracks," said Miller, who finished second here
in 2002 after leading nearly half the race. "It's a three dimensional track,
with high speeds, great corners, and fast straights. Mosport is a bit
different than most permanent road courses. It's the type of track where you
have to have faith in yourself, car, and crew to run fast. It's one of the
fastest average lap speed circuits we run on.
"I tend to do real well here," explained Miller, who has finished out of the
top ten only once in the last 26 races. "Mosport is a very challenging
course; most of the corners are blind and fast. You really have to think your
moves out wisely.
"This is the first road course we run on this season, after the first two
races being run on temporary street circuits," added Miller, who finished
third at the season opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. "A major difference
is the consistency in track surface types. At temporary circuits, you have
multiple surface changes, concrete to asphalt back to concrete. On a
permanent course like Mosport, you have a dedicated, consistent surface
throughout the entire track.
"This will be a big weekend for me, as well as for my sponsor Eaton
Cutler-Hammer. They're expecting over 120 guests at the race, so that puts
some extra pressure on me to do well," said Miller, who has been working with
Eaton Cutler-Hammer for six seasons. "At Long Beach, we had a large group of
Eaton Cutler-Hammer people cheering me on and I did well. Let's hope they can
bring me some more good luck."
