Cadillac CTS and HUMMER H2 Named 2003 Car and Truck Interior of the Year at Auto Interiors Show
DETROIT, May 13, 2003 -- The Auto Interiors Show has named Cadillac CTS and HUMMER H2 winners of the prestigious 2003 Car and Truck Interior of the Year Awards, respectively. The announcement was made by Doug Hope, group vice president of VNU Expositions, producers of the show, and Thomas Duncan, publisher of Ward's Auto World magazine, presenting sponsor of the show.
CTS and HUMMER H2 were chosen by a "People's Choice" format with online voting of five car and five truck finalists at www.autointeriors.com . Winners were selected on the basis of the following criteria:
* Appearance - styling, color, material, fit and finish; * Functionality - comfort, convenience and safety; * Innovation - surprise and delight factors; and * Overall impression of the vehicle in motion and at rest.
"The CTS interior has a series of features and appointments that challenge BMW, Lincoln LS and Mercedes E-Class," said Hope. "It is a driver's car with an elegant sense of luxury. The interior is rich with a series of easy-to- read gauges, plenty of soft leather and a touch of wood trim. OnStar is available for everything from concierge services to emergency services. The leather-upholstered seats are comfortable for all-day touring. CTS truly has a remarkable interior. "
"Interior comfort and convenience were given high priority for H2," said Duncan. "H2 was designed to provide new levels of refinement not previously found in SUVs designed for off-road excursions. H2's interior is roomy, comfortable and refined. Occupants can get directions at the push of a button, talk hands-free on a voice-activated cell phone, or make reservations at a downtown restaurant, all while climbing the most rugged terrain."
The tenth annual Auto Interiors Show, being held May 13-15, 2003, at Detroit's Cobo Conference Center, is the largest and most important annual industry event in the world dedicated exclusively to interiors professionals.
