Puroflow Announces Proposed Acquisition

    ROCKVILLE, Md.--May 13, 2003--Puroflow Incorporated (OTCBB:PFLW) entered into a Letter of Intent detailing its proposed acquisition of Southern Maryland Cable, Inc. (SMC). SMC provides inside premise wiring services to the federal government as part of the federal government's commitment to Homeland Security improvements. In addition to the growing premise wiring services, SMC also provides underground and aerial construction services and splicing to major telecommunications and utilities customers. Rainer Bosselmann, Chairman and Chief Executive of Puroflow, remarked that "SMC has performed exceedingly well during the past few years and has diversified from primarily outside plant telecommunications and utilities services to inside premise wiring services for the federal government. SMC will continue to focus on opportunities that increased Homeland Security spending provides to first class contractors who have experience with complex and sensitive projects." The consummation of this proposed transaction is contingent upon the completion of a due-diligence analysis, the signing of a definitive purchase and sale agreement, approval of both Companies' boards of directors and other conditions.
