CarParts Technologies Achieves Certification from ADP Dealer Services

    SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.--May 13, 2003--

Interface Will Help Dealer-Owned and Operated Service Centers Recapture and Retain Customers

CarParts Technologies, Inc. (CPT), the leading provider of open, eCommerce and business automation software solutions for the automotive aftermarket, today announced it has successfully completed ADP Dealer Services Group's Open API Partner Program Certification for its VAST Auto Service Management System.
The certified interface will allow dealers to operate integrated or stand-alone service centers using the industry's leading software product while ensuring tight integration with the Dealer Management System. This capability enables dealer-owned and operated service centers to generate new revenue streams while eliminating the overhead required to manually re-key information between systems and locations.
The Open API Partner Program is a developer-friendly application framework which enables select software providers to quickly and seamlessly interface their Internet, Windows(R), or Unix based applications and systems to ADP's Elite Dealer Management System (DMS) using an industry standard interface. The Open API Partner Program sets a new standard in the integration of third-party applications, business-to-business, and business-to-consumer transactions focused on the automotive and truck retail marketplace.
"We are excited by the addition of CarParts Technologies as an ADP Open API Partner. By using VAST to integrate the ADP Dealer Management System for new industry initiatives like Ford's Quick Lane Service, we can meet our goal of helping our dealer customers sell more service," said Beth Ayotte, director of alliances for ADP Dealer Services.
The CarParts Technologies certified interface integrates ADP's DMS for dealer-owned and operated service centers with CarParts Technologies' VAST Auto Service Management System for integrated and stand alone service centers. The interface is designed to assist service centers in recapturing those customers who have their vehicles repaired at independent repair facilities. It also facilitates the retention of existing customers by offering them a quick, convenient alternative for all make all model service.
The key benefit this interface offers is that it eliminates the re-keying of information into either the DMS or VAST Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Using ADP-developed interface links, VAST now provides the capability for end users to extract customer and vehicle information from the ADP DMS and import that data into the VAST POS system. A tightly integrated B2B eCommerce connection communicates customer and financial data between the VAST POS system and the DMS.
VAST is a complete turnkey Windows-based POS system for full service tire and auto service centers that drives new revenue growth and generates incremental profits while efficiently managing day-to-day shop operations. VAST streamlines shop functions to improve the estimating and invoicing processes at the point-of-sale. Fully integrated aftermarket databases, including tire guides and price updates, parts catalogs with complete Motorcraft coverage, factory-scheduled maintenance databases and labor guides, enable all make and all model service capabilities. Customer estimates and invoices are generated in minutes for all make and all model service. The VAST AutoEstimator feature provides complete estimates for Factory Scheduled Maintenance, complete with parts and book labor times, in less than 60 seconds.
"In today's competitive auto service market, VAST Point-of-Sale provides service writers with a competitive advantage by giving them the ability to sell tires and service for all vehicle makes and models. Fast and easy estimates will increase sales and profits for dealer-owned and operated service centers while raising the level of customer service they provide," said Paul Van Den Berg, vice president of product management and marketing at CarParts Technologies. "This new interface, with the integrated parts, tire and labor databases, will open up new revenue streams for our customers."
