Industries Hit by Rapidly Changing EH&S Rules and Regulations Seek Assistance Through eCAP by August Mack
LANCASTER, Pa.--May 13, 2003--August Mack Environmental, Inc. recently launched an innovative outsourcing program called eCAP(TM) (Compliance Assurance Program) for its clients to manage the uncertain costs, potential liabilities and ever changing rules associated with environmental and health & safety (EH&S) compliance. Under the eCAP program (www.ecapsolution.com) August Mack's regulatory experts are outsourced to develop, implement and maintain a facility's EH&S compliance program. At Kaydon Ring and Seal, Inc. employees recently found that the environmental rules and regulations were changing so quickly that they were having difficulty keeping up. As a result, employees looked outside the organization for help. That's when Arthur Ridler, vice-president and general manager of Kaydon Ring and Seal, discovered eCAP by August Mack. According to Ridler, "We felt like August Mack had a greater expertise to offer than we had internally. As we looked at other suppliers we found that August Mack's eCAP program offered several advantages over the others." According to Ridler they include:
-- | "A well-defined program" |
-- | "They seemed to be the most proactive" |
-- | "August Mack offered a guarantee of their work, we found it to be unusual, but reasonable. It's not a pie in the sky thing with a promise that would unlikely be enforceable. It's reasonably stated and well thought out." |
-- | "eCAP's guarantee appeared to be a good decision on their part and ultimately on ours." |
Located in Baltimore, Maryland, the manufacturer of piston rings and shaft seals for the Aerospace industry among many others, receives its eCAP service from August Mack's Lancaster, Pennsylvania office. Susan Burkett, senior environmental engineer for the Lancaster office, oversees the account. According to Burkett, Kaydon Ring and Seal has purchased four eCAP modules including the air emissions module, waste generators module, hazardous waste module and the wastewater module. Under these eCAP modules, August Mack experts ensure proper reporting and record keeping of the facility's air emissions, hazardous waste, wastewater permits and their hazard communication reporting for Form R and SARA Tier II is completed.
