AK Steel Receives Subaru of Indiana President's Quality Award for Sixth Year

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio, May 12, 2003 -- AK Steel said today it has again earned the President's Quality Award from Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) Inc., marking the sixth time that AK Steel has received SIA's highest recognition for supplier excellence.

The award was presented at a ceremony in Lafayette, Indiana by SIA officers. AK Steel supplies cold-rolled and coated steels for the Subaru Outback, Baja and Legacy models built by SIA in Lafayette.

"We greatly value our relationship with SIA and are honored to receive their most prestigious quality award for the sixth time," said Richard M. Wardrop, Jr., chairman and CEO of AK Steel.

AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets, as well as tubular steel products. The company has more than 10,000 employees in plants and offices in Middletown, Coshocton, Mansfield, Walbridge and Zanesville, Ohio; Ashland, Kentucky; Rockport, Indiana; and Butler, Pennsylvania.
