Chrysler Group's Fountain Receives 'Champion Tribute' Award

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 9, 2003 -- Frank Fountain, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and President, DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund, is recipient of the "Champion Tribute" Award from the Detroit Entrepreneurship Institute (DEI).

The award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to entrepreneurship in the Detroit metropolitan area.

"Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes the entire community, along with strong corporate support, to grow a successful business," said Kathy McClelland, Founder and CEO of DEI. "It's important to celebrate individuals, such as Frank Fountain, who have made the commitment to create jobs and stimulate our economy."

Fountain, who has been with Chrysler Group since 1973, is responsible for the analysis of state and local government legislative issues, community relations and national education programs. As head of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund, he oversees and manages the company's philanthropic initiatives.

Fountain serves on the boards of numerous civic, professional and business organizations. He is Vice Chair of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Citizens Research Council of Michigan and New Detroit, Inc. Additionally, he is on the boards of the Economic Club of Detroit, the Metro Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

An active advocate for education, Fountain is Chairperson of the Hampton University Board of Directors and a member of the Board of Overseers at the Wharton School of Business. He is the former Chairperson of the Detroit Public School Board.

The seventh annual "Champion Tribute" Award will be presented tonight during the 2003 Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards Benefit at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
