Celebrating Twenty Years of the Teradyne Users Group -TUG-; Test Industry's Longest Running Customer Conference

BOSTON--May 7, 2003--Teradyne, Inc. announced the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Teradyne Users Group (TUG). TUG 2003, held May 5-7 in Nashville, Tennessee, featured a keynote address by Synopsis Fellow, Dr. Thomas W. Williams, speaking on 'A DFT History of the Last 25 Years.' Two hundred and fifty registered attendees participated in over one hundred paper sessions on topics which included: increasing parallel test for high-volume semiconductor devices, improving measurement and productivity for VLSI and memory devices, military and aerospace test solutions, and commercial manufacturing test. TUG is open to all licensed users of Teradyne's test systems and software products.
"The exchange of technical information at TUG on current test techniques is an incredibly valuable resource," said Tom Munns, Power PC Test Technology Manager, Computing Platforms Division, Motorola, Inc. and TUG 2003 Steering Committee Chair. "The conference is all about sharing ideas with Teradyne and other Teradyne users which results in an information exchange that directly impacts and improves how participants approach test. The value of the conference is evident from the level of customer participation over the years and we look forward to more TUG conferences in the years ahead."
George Chamillard, Teradyne Chairman and CEO, said, "In the early eighties, the Teradyne Users Group consisted of twenty participants meeting to exchange ideas. Watching TUG evolve into a technical conference with several hundred attendees is a testament to Teradyne's customers and their commitment to creating a unique community from which to leverage the best test solutions," concluded Chamillard.

    About TUG

The Teradyne Users Group (TUG) was first formed in 1983 by Teradyne customers. The event is open to all licensed users of Teradyne's test systems and software products and is held each year at rotating locations within the U.S. The conference consists of technical papers, poster sessions and tutorials that present the latest in test technology. TUG is managed by an annually elected steering committee of Teradyne users and Teradyne appointed delegates. At TUG 2003 a new Chair and other customer Committee members were elected who will work with the team of Teradyne delegates to plan TUG 2004 in Northern California.
