Yokohama Tire Corporation Partners With Infineon Raceway as Track's Official Tire
FULLERTON, Calif.--May 6, 2003--Yokohama Tire Corporation has entered into a partnership agreement with Infineon Raceway making the company the official tire of the track."Yokohama carries an outstanding legacy in motorsports," said Art Michalik, Director of Marketing Communications for Yokohama. "Infineon Raceway is one of the finest racing facilities in the country. The combination of the two, working together to promote the sport, promises to be very exciting."
The contract, which is multi-year, provides Yokohama with prominent signage and visibility throughout the facility. In addition, Yokohama is outfitting all track support vehicles -- pace cars, staff vehicles and support trucks -- with its tires.
"The increased visibility this gives us in the motorsports community is paramount," continued Michalik. "Our brand exposure increases significantly among true racing enthusiasts."
Infineon Raceway hosts one of the busiest schedules of any racing facility, averaging activities 340 days a year. This newly renovated raceway is home to events ranging from NASCAR, NHRA, ALMS, SCCA and AFM motorcycle events.
Since 1990, Yokohama has been a sponsor of the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School, based at Infineon Raceway, supplying them with the latest in ultra-high performance products for the school's vehicles. The partnership with the track itself was a natural progression of that relationship.
"The relationship we have with the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School continues to be a tremendous positive for us," added Michalik. "All of the staff at the school and the programs they conduct are first-class. They test our tires to the limits giving us valuable feedback for future development."
Yokohama Tire Corporation manufactures, markets and distributes a complete line of products for high performance, light truck, passenger car, commercial truck and bus, as well as off-the-road mining and construction applications. Yokohama supports the tire care and safety guidelines established by the Rubber Manufacturer's Association (RMA) and the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA).
