Willis Wood Elected California AAA Chairman

    DENVER--May 6, 2003--Willis B. Wood Jr., retired chairman and CEO of Pacific Enterprises in California, has been elected chairman of the AAA Board of Directors at the AAA Annual Meeting here today at the Adams Mark Hotel.
    Approximately 800 delegates and club officials, representing the federation's 77 affiliated clubs in the United States and Canada, also elected Charles H. Hire of Columbus, Ohio, vice chairman, and re-elected Marilyn M. Pfaltz of Summit, N.J., secretary.
    Wood has been a member of the Automobile Club of Southern California since 1993. The Kansas City, Mo., native serves as a director of numerous boards including Washington Mutual Inc., Haynes Foundation, University of Southern California and Harvey Mudd College.
    Hire has served on the AAA Ohio Automobile Club board since 1985 and is a past chairman of the club. He is a partner of Baker & Hostetler LLP in Columbus.
    Pfaltz has been a director of the AAA New Jersey Automobile Club since 1977 and served as chairman from 1995-97. She is a founding partner of P&R Associates of Summit, N.J.
    Re-elected to new three-year terms on the board of directors were: Kenneth A. Johnson of St. Louis; James R. Pouliot of San Francisco; Earle B. Seeley of Lawrence, Mass.; and Leo Soong of Walnut Creek, Calif.
    Elected to new three-year terms were Stephanie L. Garcia of Denver; Dennis I. Okamoto of Seattle; and J. Crawford Reid of Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Mark Shaw of Providence, R.I., was elected to fill a one-year, unexpired term.
