Delphi Names New Chief Information Officer

TROY, Mich., May 6, 2003 -- Delphi Corp.'s Board of Directors named Bette M. Walker as vice president and chief information officer, effective July 1. She succeeds Peter Janak, 63, who will retire, also effective July 1.

Walker, 59, is currently executive director for Business Operations and leads Delphi Information Systems and Services' Global Cost Management and Global Business Planning initiatives. She will become a member of Delphi's Strategy Board and will report to Alan S. Dawes, vice chairman and chief financial officer.

"Bette will leverage strategic initiatives in information technology to maximize Delphi's competitiveness. She will also continue driving global SAP deployment in support of lean purchasing, engineering and e-business," said J.T. Battenberg III, Delphi chairman, CEO and president.

"Peter was key in the establishment and implementation of Delphi's information technology strategies and business plans, particularly during our start-up as an independent company," Battenberg said. "We wish him well in his retirement."

Named to her current position in January 2002, Walker brings to her new role more than 25 years of IT experience. Most recently, she spearheaded the integration of Delphi's IT finance, contract management, purchasing and communication functions as well as a global organization transformation.

Walker joined Delphi in 1997 as chief information officer of Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems Division, where she led the IT integration of business acquisitions as well as the integration of Delphi's Energy and Chassis Systems divisions.

Previously, she served as vice president, Information Systems, for the Safety Restraint Systems Division of Allied Signal Inc. Prior to Allied Signal, she held several positions in IT, including Digital Equipment Corporation. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology.

Walker earned a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of New Hampshire. She also attended the Executive MBA Program at Boston University and completed the Global Leadership Executive Development Program at Harvard University.

A replacement for Walker will be named soon.

Janak joined Delphi in 1998 from TRW Inc., where he was vice president and chief information officer. Previously, he worked on NASA's Apollo program and with several technology companies, including Chrysler Space Division, Teledyne Engineering and Planning Research Corporation.
