Sievert, Tondryk & Crapser Among Hales Winners

Franklin, Wis., May 3--After taking the lead midway through the 30-lap UMP 
late model feature, Bret Sievert held off a hard charging Russ Scheffler to 
take the win in the headline event at the Hales Corners Speedway Saturday 
night.  The two UMP aces were followed by Rick Scheffler, Turk Letizia and 
Ron Stroika at the finish.

By winning, Sievert completed a clean sweep of the night having previously 
set fast time and having a heat win.  Other late model heats went to Scott 
Specht in the dash and Jim Watson.

In Sportsmen action, Dave Gorny set fast time along with scoring a heat win.  
The feature went to Jeff Tondryk, followed by Don Scheffler, Bob Brent, Don 
Sorce and Gorny.  Winners in the other heat races were Scheffler and Mike 
Arnold.

Brain "Sweetcorn" Crapser methodically picked off the competition in the 
modified main.  He also set fast time prior to his triple crown event win.  
Jim Muth, Jim Zdroik and Bill Tandetzke took modified heat race wins, and 
Muth also took the semi-feature.

To finish the night, Ken Fluery won the Hales Whales main and Chris Blake was 
victorious in the Mud Puppies.

program of late model, sportsmen, modified, Hales Whales and Mud Puppy
