Kurt Johnson uses Friday's single session to place Third midway through Atlanta qualifying

Event: Twenty-third Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals
	 Presented by Pontiac
Location: Atlanta Dragway
       Commerce, GA
Day/Date: Friday May 2, 2003

Evening rain brought a premature end to the first day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals, canceling the second session on Friday. However, Kurt Johnson took advantage of the single opportunity to record a 6.908-second, 200.89 mph pass, placing his ACDelco Cavalier third heading into Saturday's final two sessions.

"We were pretty pleased with that first run. Our ACDelco Chevy was really smooth through the first few gears, putting us third and giving us a solid baseline heading into tomorrow. We'll check the weather in the morning, make a few adjustments, and see if we can move ourselves up a couple spots."
