GM Names Roger Adams to Head GM's Buick, Pontiac-GMC
DETROIT May 2, 2003; The AP reported that Roger Adams, general manager of General Motors Corp.'s customer network, was named Friday to head the automaker's Buick and Pontiac-GMC divisions.
Adams replaces Kurt Ritter, who accepted the post in February but left GM this week to join the Saatchi & Saatchi advertising firm. Ritter had been with GM for 32 years.
In addition, Jack Bowen, general director of GM's credit card operations, was named director of the automaker's customer network, reporting to Adams.
Both changes were effective Thursday.
Adams assumes direct responsibility for Buick and will ensure that portfolio planning, network development and marketing are aligned across the Buick, Pontiac and GMC brands.
He continues to report to John Middlebrook, vice president of vehicle brand marketing and corporate advertising.
Adams joined GM in 1996 with the Buick Division as brand manager of the Regal. He previously worked at Keebler Co., H.J. Heinz, RJR Nabisco and Pepsico Inc.
Bowen began his GM career in 1996 as Buick's director of advertising.
