Governor Musgrove Participates in Yorozu Opening
JACKSON, Miss., May 2 -- Governor Ronnie Musgrove helped celebrate the grand opening of Yorozu Automotive Mississippi today in Vicksburg. The facility will supply suspension components for the Nissan plant scheduled to open May 27 in Canton.
"This is another example of the progress we're making in showcasing Mississippi as a great place to do business and as a state that can compete with anyone in the global marketplace," Musgrove said. "We're focused on creating quality jobs like the ones offered by Yorozu, and we're excited about this state-of-the-art facility being up and running."
The Yorozu facility is 82,000 square feet. The total investment is more than $18 million, and 125 people will be employed in the first phase.
Under Musgrove's leadership and during a national recession, more than 2,000 new and expanded facilities have opened, creating more than 50,000 jobs and a total business investment of over $14 billion. Mississippi was listed by Site Selection magazine last year as one of the top ten states for new and expanded facilities. In September 2001, the state was named one of the top ten states for small business survival.
