TORRANCE, Calif., May 1, 2003; -- Lexus today reported April sales of 21,277 vehicles, an increase of 2.2 percent, recording the division's sixth consecutive best-ever April. "The recent jump in consumer confidence should translate to a significant increase in consumer spending, pushing the economy along at a quicker pace," said Denny Clements, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "The recent new-model launches in the luxury segments will benefit from this improving climate."

Lexus sport utility vehicles (SUVs) led the sales charge, enjoying best-ever April sales of 11,044, up 47.8 percent over the same period last year.
