American Suzuki U.S. Sales Remain Strong

Aerio Posts 159 Percent Gain Over April 2002

BREA, Calif., May 1 -- American Suzuki Motor Corporation's (ASMC) U.S. sales remain strong with sales totaling 5,981 vehicles for the month and 19,962 vehicles year-to-date. The Suzuki Aerio sedan and SX (sport crossover) pushed passenger car sales, posting a 79 percent increase over April 2002.

"Recently deemed one of the 'Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000' by Kelly Blue Book, the Aerio continues to receive an increasingly strong response," said Rick Suzuki, president of ASMC. "The Aerio was also recognized with the AAA (American Automobile Association) Auto Guide Award in the under $15,000 category and designated a 'Best Buy' by Consumer Digest, which spurred Aerio sales, making it one of American Suzuki's top-selling models alongside the XL-7."

The XL-7 posted 2,012 sales, while the Aerio sedan and SX marked 2,597 sales for the month. The Grand Vitara notched 930 sales for the period and the Vitara posted 413 units sold for the month.
