GGI Uses Duraswitch Pushgate Technology to Create Innovative Automated Parking System for Lexis Systems, Inc.

PHOENIX, May 1 -- Duraswitch Canadian licensee, GGI International, has secured a new project using High-Impact PushGate(R) technology for automated parking systems.

GGI's customer, Lexis Systems Inc., will debut the LX2, one of its most innovative Parking Systems yet, at the International Parking Institute -- 2003 International Parking Conference and Exposition in Long Beach, Calif., May 18-21.

The LX2 incorporates a 16-key flat-panel keypad using High-Impact PushGate pushbutton construction. This automated revenue collection product had to be UV, water and vandal resistant, user friendly, aesthetically pleasing as well as extremely reliable and durable.

"Lexis approached GGI in late 2002 for help in developing an innovative front panel for the LX2," noted Peter Graham, co-president, GGI International. "We introduced PushGate technology because it provides the durability and reliability they are looking for in a switch and creates a more modern look and feel."

The High-Impact PushGate construction was developed for industries requiring a rugged and robust interface solution, ideal for keypads manipulated by the general public. To create a switch resistant to damage and vandalism, the High-Impact PushGate incorporates a layer of rubber over the basic PushGate construction. Even with this extra layer of rubber, the High-Impact maintains its crisp consistent tactile feel, and is easily environmentally sealed.

"The LX2 can be placed in a multitude of environments ranging from installation in parking lots, on the street, in garages/parkades in both rural and urban settings. Lexis Systems needed a switch panel that would meet all the needs presented by these various installation environments/weather conditions and the High-Impact delivered," added Ian Graham, co-president, GGI.

"GGI and Lexis Systems have developed a switch panel which demonstrates innovation, reliability and quality, providing a state of the art interface product," said Tim Kuhn, vice president business development for Duraswitch. "We are pleased that Duraswitch is part of that solution."

GGI is the only membrane switch manufacturer in Canada licensed to incorporate Duraswitch(R) technologies into their membrane switch constructions. This exclusive licensee agreement has allowed GGI to differentiate itself in the market while allowing GGI to offer its clients the widest range of product integration possibilities.
