CarParts Technologies Wins Three New Major Customers in Automotive Aftermarket

    SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.--April 30, 2003--

Appeal of Integrated Products vs. Single-Point Solutions Elevates Demand for CarParts Technologies' Software Across Aftermarket

CarParts Technologies Inc. (CPT), the leading provider of open, eCommerce and business automation software solutions for the automotive aftermarket, today announced the company has secured three new customers in different segments of the automotive aftermarket including an auto service chain and two warehouse distributors.
This series of wins for CarParts Technologies signifies the growing market need for integrated products from one software company versus single-point solutions from multiple suppliers.

Precision Tune Auto Care Franchisee Selects VAST Point-of-Sale Solution

Precision Tune Auto Care provides routine automotive maintenance and repair services to more than a million vehicles each year through more than 430 franchised Precision Tune Auto Care centers located in the United States and in 11 countries. Motorscope Inc., an area developer with 27 locations in the Minnesota area, selected CarParts Technologies' VAST auto service management system.
VAST is CarParts Technologies' complete point-of-sale system for single and multi-site auto service shops that enable franchise operations to consolidate back office transactions at a central location for greater efficiencies and visibility while efficiently managing day-to-day shop operations.
"Our former system did not afford us the latest features to increase sales and profits, nor did it do anything to add value to our brand position or the individual value of our centers. We needed a state of the art system to create a competitive advantage, one that was functional today and from a stable vendor. CarPart's Technologies' VAST was far and away the winner," said Erik Hanson, general manager at Motorscope Inc. "VAST has excellent functionality that will help us leverage our purchasing power as a group, improve customer service through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs, potentially add 10-15 percent new business in fleets and sell more maintenance services. VAST will help us become more profitable and give us a competitive advantage in our marketplace."

Integrated Solutions Convince Warehouse Distributors Roppel and Heatex

Roppel Industries Inc. (Roppel) offers automotive cooling systems, heating and air conditioning parts and service to Jobbers and Installers from six warehouse locations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana servicing in excess of 800 service outlets. Roppel purchased a combination of CarParts Technologies' products including DirectStep, VAST and OpenWebs (online ordering).
CarParts Technologies was the only supplier that offered Roppel an integrated solution for eCommerce, warehouse management, and point-of-service for their service outlets. Four Roppel Service Centers will be using VAST as their POS.
Heatex, based in Roseville, MI, serves the heating and air conditioning segment of the WD parts business and also manufactures radiator cores. Heatex selected CarParts Technologies' DirectStep 5.0 to streamline its point-of-sale processes, integrate cataloging and provide a more flexible warehouse management system. DirectStep is a complete business automation system that can be used throughout the entire warehouse to automate everything from order processing to purchasing and inventory management to accounting.
"Many automotive aftermarket companies use software products that are often old and severely limited in functionality. These companies realize there is a price to be paid by continuing to use antiquated technology but lack the time and resources to test and develop new software in-house. Although other suppliers target the needs of aftermarket organizations, CarParts Technologies is the only company that delivers integrated solutions," said Dave McCann, CEO of CarParts Technologies. "Whether beset by manual processes in retail stores, the need for an integrated Web presence, or out-of-date warehouse systems, our newest automotive aftermarket customers clearly validate today's need for a one-stop-shop with integrated products versus purchasing single-point solutions from multiple suppliers."
