AFTER TWO OF FOUR QUALIFYING SESSIONS:

WHIT BAZEMORE, MATCO TOOLS IRON EAGLE DODGE STRATUS R/T FUNNY CAR, struggled
to make a clean pass today, smoking the tires at the hit of the throttle in
the first qualifying session, then squeaking into the field in No. 15 in the
second, with a slow 5.338/199.88 lap.

"We had some bad luck tonight when we were on a low .80 run and the main
fuel line broke half track. That effectively ended the run, so we're 15th.
We are really fortunate that w didn't blow the car up or burned it down
because there was a huge amount of fuel pouring itself on to the engine. We
were pretty luck there. The Matco Tools team loves Thunder Valley. We're
going to come out strong tomorrow and move ourselves up in the field."
