GEICO Names Scott Sheldon Quality Award Winner
WASHINGTON, April 25 -- Scott Sheldon of Falls Church, Va. recently earned honors from GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) as a Corporate Quality Award winner for 2002.
Mr. Sheldon, a lead underwriting modeler at GEICO's headquarters in Washington, D.C., received the 2002 Award for Economic Value Added. His contribution could increase GEICO's revenue by $10 million.
Sheldon created a new computer-assisted underwriting (CAU) model for GEICO Casualty and GEICO Indemnity. He credited the cooperation of the associates who use CAU, and praised their "willingness to unlearn what they'd done for so long."
Sheldon recently attended an awards ceremony at GEICO's headquarters in Washington, D.C., to recognize his contribution to the company and those of his fellow associates.
"Each year we are impressed by the accomplishments of our associates, and this year is no different," said Tony Nicely, GEICO chairman and CEO.
The Idea for Quality award program was established in 1993 to recognize individuals, teams or work groups who have demonstrated outstanding achievement by participating in and contributing to the success of GEICO's Quality Improvement Process.
