Navistar's Chief Executive Officer Assumes Operating Responsbility for Company's Truck Group

    WARRENVILLE, Ill.--April 23, 2003--Navistar International Corporation , the nation's largest commercial truck, school bus and mid-range diesel engine producer, today announced that Daniel C. Ustian, president and chief executive officer, has assumed operating responsibility for the company's truck group, effective immediately.
    The company said that J. Steven Keate, who had served as president of the truck group since June 1999, has left the company. During Keate's tenure Navistar's operating company launched the industry's first high performance truck line. Keate joined the company in March 1995 as vice president and corporate controller and led the development of the company's five-point truck strategy. Prior to becoming president of the truck group, he headed heavy truck operations.
    Ustian has extensive operating experience and previously led the company's engine operation that under his leadership experienced tremendous growth and introduced new product advances to become the world's leading manufacturer of midrange commercial diesel engines in a range of 160 to 300 horsepower.

    Headquartered in Warrenville, Ill., Navistar is the parent company of International Truck and Engine Corporation, producer of mid-range diesel engines, medium trucks, heavy trucks, severe service vehicles and a provider of parts and service sold under the International(R) brand. IC Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary, produces school buses. The company also is a private label designer and manufacturer of diesel engines for the pickup truck, van and SUV markets.
