Delphi Announces Executive Staff Personnel Changes For Delphi Product & Service Solutions
TROY, Mich., April 22 -- Delphi Corporation today announced the following organizational changes for Delphi Product & Service Solutions effective immediately.
Bethany M. Bernthal, currently director, public affairs & communications at Delphi Steering in Saginaw, Michigan is named director, brand management and communications, replacing Rachelle R. Valdez. Karen A. McClain, currently director of global purchasing for Delphi Interior & Safety Systems is named purchasing director replacing Beverly J. Gaskin.
In their new assignments, Bernthal and McClain report to Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, president, Delphi Product & Service Solutions and vice president, Delphi Corporation. Valdez and Gaskin join Delphi Steering in Saginaw, Michigan -- Valdez as director, public affairs & communications and Gaskin as purchasing director.
Bernthal joined Saginaw Steering Gear, a division of General Motors, in 1974 as a cooperative student. While at Saginaw Steering, she worked in a variety of positions in finance, marketing, joint ventures, planning and operations. In 1991, Bernthal was assigned as managing director of Saginaw Deutschland Gmbh in Kaiserslautern, Germany. She was appointed to her current assignment in 1999. Bernthal has a bachelor's degree in finance and economics from Ferris State University and studied international business at the University of Michigan.
McClain began her automotive career in 1977 as a college graduate-in- training at the former Fisher Guide plant in Trenton, New Jersey. She spent the next twenty years in various supervisory and management positions in purchasing, production, materials management and industrial engineering at several Fisher Guide plants in Ohio, Michigan, Texas and Windsor before being named plant manager for Inland Fisher Guide operations in Leon, Mexico in 1996. After serving in that capacity for the Delphi Energy & Engine Management facility in Anderson, Indiana, she returned to Delphi Interior Systems as director of PCL & Direct Ship, a position she held until her most recent assignment. McClain holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from New York University and an MBA from Central Michigan University.
Valdez joined General Motors in 1985 as a district sales manager at the Service Parts Operation in Houston, Texas and spent the next ten years with the organization working in several locations, accepting positions of increased responsibility including assignments in business planning, product development and marketing. In 1995, Valdez transferred to GM's Automotive Components Group where she worked on the transition and name change to Delphi Automotive Systems. In 1997, Valdez participated in a global task team assignment at Allison Transmission and was assigned to General Motors in Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing prior to being appointed to her current assignment in 1999. Valdez received a bachelor's degree in marketing and advertising from Western Michigan University and earned her MBA from the University of Detroit.
Gaskin began her career at General Motors in 1981 as a GM cooperative student at the Service Parts Organization in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Upon graduation, she held a variety of positions in human resources and sales at Swartz Creek and later at the Drayton Plains, Michigan location. From 1993 to 1996, Gaskin worked in the purchasing staff for the GM Truck Group in Pontiac, Michigan. She then transferred to purchasing in Delphi Headquarters in Troy, Michigan trading non-ferrous metals. In 1999, Gaskin was named purchasing manager for Delphi Product & Service Solutions. She was appointed to her current assignment in 2000. Gaskin has an industrial administration degree from Kettering University and an MBA from University of Michigan-Flint.
