Kurt Johnson to guest on ESPN's RPM Now Radio Show This Weekend
Sugar Hill, Ga., April 18, 2003 - Current NHRA POWERade Pro Stock points leader Kurt Johnson will be a featured guest on this weekend's edition of RPM Now. Johnson is coming off his second win of the season at the O'Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas.
K.J. opened his weekend in Houston by resetting the national top speed record at 205.57 mph and qualifying second behind his father Warren Johnson. During Sunday's final eliminations, the younger Johnson's ACDelco Cavalier stormed through the quickest field in NHRA Pro Stock history, reaching the championship round for the third time in as many races. Facing friend and rival Scott Geoffrion in the first Chevrolet-Ford Pro Stock final in 13 years, Johnson posted the quickest elapsed time of eliminations at 6.780 seconds to gain the narrow victory and score his 25th career NHRA national event win, taking over the points lead for the first time since 2001.
