Honda chooses Teradyne Diagnostic Solutions as its Next Generation Service Diagnostics Provider
MANCHESTER, England--April 17, 2003--Honda Motor Company, Ltd. has selected Teradyne Diagnostic Solutions to develop its next generation diagnostic solutions for Honda and Acura service dealerships worldwide. The Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) developed by Teradyne comprises a set of diagnostic tools presented to the service technician via a clear and easily understood user interface. Primary information is available for the Honda technician to service or repair the vehicle electronics quickly and accurately. The HDS is an extension of Teradyne's GRADE diagnostic authoring program, implementing techniques such as schematics and decision tree programs. The diagnostic data is translated into multi-lingual formats for specific regions globally, providing Honda technicians a channel of communication in their own language.
Using a centrally controlled database, the HDS provides the necessary input data to drive diagnostic applications. The applications detect and report faults by interrogating the electronic control modules used on Honda vehicle systems. The user-friendly software operates on a number of standard platforms and provides the interface to enable Electronic Control Module (ECM) reprogramming, fault code reading and clearing, data logging and interactive diagnostic applications. A key feature of the HDS solution is its open architecture, providing Honda with the flexibility to link in technical and dealer management information accessible via the same hardware devices.
The HDS is part of a complete Teradyne diagnostic solution that consists of hardware, embedded system software and PC software designed to communicate with the vehicle system. The solution is based on a core of service diagnostic solutions developed by Teradyne Diagnostic Solutions.
