Ford Motor Company Encourages Elementary School Students to Support America's National Parks

DEARBORN, Mich., April 17 -- Ford Motor Company will solidify its commitment once again to America's National Parks as the automaker celebrates Earth Day and National Park Week this year with a special contest and giveaway. The contest, called "Ford's Pick Your Park Sweepstakes," will be promoted through Time for Kids for students in grades 1-6 and focuses on environmental education. It allows one student an opportunity to win K2 bicycles for his or her entire class.

Through May 26, students can log onto www.Ford.com/go/parks to learn more about America's National Parks and vote for the National Park they would most like to visit. One entry will be randomly selected, and the winning student will be awarded up to 30 bikes for his or her entire class. In addition, the park that receives the most votes will receive a set of the bicycles that they can provide for visitor use and for programs like the Junior Ranger program.

"America's National Parks are integral to the environmental landscape of this country, and Ford remains committed to using its resources to create a more sustainable world," said Jan Valentic, vice president, Global Marketing, Ford Motor Company. "Sponsoring this contest as a tribute to Earth Day allows us to deliver that resounding message to America's youth."

With more than 87 million visitors exploring America's National Parks throughout the year, travelers are seeking ways to better enjoy them while still preserving their beauty. Since 2000, Ford has worked closely with the National Park Foundation and the National Park Service as a Proud Partner to help preserve America's 388 National Parks and enhance the visitor experience.

Ford has been instrumental in providing innovative transportation and environmental solutions that enable visitors to enjoy National Parks. Included in Ford's effort is a longstanding partnership with bicycle manufacturer K2. Thanks to Ford, K2 bikes have provided many national park explorers with an alternative form of pedal-powered transportation.

Since 1949, Ford Motor Company has been committed to improving the quality of those who live and work in the communities where Ford does business. As William Clay Ford, Jr. has stated, "A good company delivers excellent products and services. A great company delivers excellent products and services and strives to make the world a better place."
