Detroit's African American Museum Gets Big Membership Boost From Chrysler Jeep Superstores & DaimlerChrysler
Free Family Membership Offered To NAACP's 10,000 Fight for Freedom Dinner Attendees With Test Drive at Chrysler Jeep Superstores
DETROIT, April 15 -- The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is due for a big membership boost with a special promotion from Chrysler Jeep Superstores and DaimlerChrysler for the 48th Annual NAACP Fight for Freedom Dinner. The dinner kicks off at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Cobo Center.
Everyone attending the nation's largest sit-down fundraising dinner will receive a free one-year family membership to the museum if they take a qualified test drive at a Chrysler Jeep Superstore. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the dinner.
"The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is one of the nation's greatest treasures for preserving and presenting the African and African American history and culture," said Jim Schebil, president of the Chrysler Jeep Superstores Advertising Association. "Chrysler Jeep Superstores are extremely pleased to partner with DaimlerChrysler and the Detroit Branch of the NAACP in helping more people explore and experience the museum."
Each person attending the NAACP dinner will have a chance to receive a free one-year family museum membership worth $65.
The Annual Fight for Freedom Dinner is the nation's largest single sit- down fund-raising dinner and the largest single fundraiser for the NAACP.
The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History began as the Afro-American Museum of Detroit in 1965. It was first housed in the home of Dr. Charles H. Wright. Today, the museum is housed in a $38 million facility and is the world's largest museum devoted to African American history and culture.
