Motor Parts Federal Credit Union Names Heidi Kassab President and CEO

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 14 -- Heidi Kassab has been named president and chief executive officer of Motor Parts Federal Credit Union (MPFCU), metro Detroit's 22nd largest credit union, effective today. She succeeds Don Major, 59, who retired after 32 years of service.

Kassab, 32, is responsible for the daily operations of the Auburn Hills, Mich.-based credit union, including its Center Line, Mich., Detroit, and Perrysburg, Ohio branches and its approximately 50 employees.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to further the growth of Motor Parts Federal Credit Union as one of the area's leading credit unions," Kassab said. "Exceeding members' expectations and providing personalized service will remain our top priorities."

Most recently, Kassab served as executive vice president of MPFCU. In this position since 1999, she supervised several operational departments, including accounting, marketing and information systems, as well as prepared the annual budget. In addition, she implemented new vendor solutions for debit, credit and automated teller machine processing and reorganized operational areas for optimum efficiency.

From 1996 to 1999, Kassab served as operations manager for Wanigas Federal Credit Union in Saginaw, Mich. There, she handled branch and departmental operations, managed the credit union's investment portfolio and prepared the annual budget.

Previously, Kassab was a staff auditor for Troy, Mich.-based Doeren Mayhew, a certified public accounting and consulting firm. As a staff auditor, she performed annual audits, electronic data processing reviews and compilations for credit unions and non-profits.

She started her career in 1987 with Research Federal Credit Union in Warren, Mich., where she worked in accounting, information systems, member services, lending and mortgage.

Kassab earned a bachelor of arts degree in accounting and computer science from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. She is a member of the Credit Union National Association's CFO and COO Councils.

Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., MPFCU is a member-owned, not-for- profit organization that was founded in 1951 by employees from Chrysler Corp.'s Center Line, Mich. parts division. MPFCU has branches in Auburn Hills, Center Line and Detroit, Mich., and Perrysburg, Ohio. Through a partnership with Credit Union Family Service Centers, MPFCU provides its members access to 21 additional branch locations in Michigan and more than 900 others nationwide.
