AutoXray Delivers Automotive Industry's First Diagnostic Tool Compliant With New Standard
AutoXray Forges Ahead in Mission to Simplify Automotive Repair
TEMPE, Ariz., April 14 -- AutoXray, the leading provider of cost-effective automotive diagnostic scanners, today announced the general availability of the EZ-SCAN 6000, the first diagnostic scanner on the market to support the automotive industry's new standard communications protocol-Controller Area Network or CAN.
"We are pleased to deliver first-to-market support for CAN with the EZ-SCAN 6000," said William Miller, president and CEO of AutoXray. "We pride ourselves on simplifying the diagnosis and repair of vehicle problems, and the EZ-SCAN 6000 extends the benefits of CAN to manufacturers, technicians, and consumers alike in a highly functional and simple-to-use design."
Adopted by the automotive industry in 2003, CAN will serve as a true standard for managing in-vehicle systems, and is already in production at manufacturers including Ford, GM, SAAB and VW. CAN has also been mandated by the EPA to become the only protocol for new car certification by 2008. The existing protocols, each of which has failed to deliver consistency across manufacturers, will be phased out.
In line with AutoXray's Simple to Use & Simple to Own SM philosophy, the EZ-SCAN 6000 also includes the following new features:
-- New Ergonomic Design -- Large Eight-Line Display -- Backlit Display with 32-step Contrast Control -- Quick StepTM Navigation -- OBD-I, OBD-II Generic, MFG Specific, and Enhanced OBD-II software support
AutoXray's patented, re-configurable diagnostic technology can also be found powering a new line of products now available in partnership with diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation at www.eaton.com . The new Eaton MD(TM) or Mobile Diagnostics line features diagnostic tools and service products designed for use on heavy-duty vehicles.
The EZ-SCAN 6000 is now available nationwide at retailers including NAPA, Kragen Auto Parts, Checker Auto Parts and O'Reilly Auto Parts. Current AutoXray customers have the additional option to swap out their existing hardware or re-configure it through a simple software upgrade.
