Terry Borcheller - Homestead Cup race
Florida strength
Terry Borcheller enjoyed a strong race weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in
Homestead, Fla. The Phoenix driver posted the fastest GSII class times in
three of the four practice sessions for the April 13 Grand-Am Cup race on the
2.4-mile road course. His co-driver, Forest Barber of Fort Worth, Tex.,
started the No. 54 Bell Motorsports BMW M3 sixth on the GSII grid. The pair
were unlucky on their pitstop timing, but finished the race fourth in class.
"Forest did a great job qualifying. He kept the gap to the other cars really
close," Borcheller said. "I think he's shown the most improvement with this
race.
"We were quickest all weekend, then something happened with the car. We
don't know what it was - we just didn't have as much power for the race. We
did our driver change from Forest to me, then we got a caution flag a couple
of laps later. So all the other cars pitted under the yellow and four cars
gained a lap on us. But we still finished fourth, and points-wise we're okay
because the [championship] points are really close."
