CANNON OUT IN FIRST ROUND IN HOUSTON

HOUSTON (April 13, 2003) -- Scotty Cannon was on a good run in the Oakley
"Elite Special Forces" Funny Car in the first round of eliminations at the
O'Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park against Del Worsham. He
was ahead of Worsham at 330 feet of the quarter-mile track when it struck
the tires and started to mix cylinders, resulting in a 5.052-second lap at
284.75 mph to Worsham's round-winning 4.920/310.48.

The team continues to make progress, however, in a long season which has 18
more events.

"It was running good at about half track," said the 1999 NHRA Rookie of the
year. "It just had a little bit too much power in it. It just didn't stick.
The bottom line is we got behind the 8-ball when we got here; we didn't get
down the track. So we had only one run to go off of. My fault. We'll fix it
and go to the next race track. We're making progress, but it don't look like
it."

Cannon's Oakley team will test here tomorrow.
