GARY SCELZI NO. 12 FRIDAY NIGHT

Gary Scelzi, driving the Oakley Time Bomb Dodge Stratus R/T Funny Car, ended
up No. 12 after two qualifying sessions, establishing a 5.321/201.43 pass in
the final session, despite swerving to the right and getting out of the
groove. He got close to the centerline, but avoided it and shut down before
the finish line. In the first run, he smoked the tires at the hit of the
throttle.

SCELZI: "We put everything back to the same blower, the same everything to
the way we ran it earlier in the year. And the car was going to make it down
the race track; it was running very well. It just got over to the right, got
out of the groove. And when I yanked it back, it was too violent of a move
and I shut it off. The good news is that everything looks like it's going to
be normal again. And even better news is that we're gong to run in the
daylight tomorrow, so maybe I can see where I'm going."
