Traffic peaks and troughs over the Easter holidays
London, April 10 -- Trafficmaster, the specialist provider of traffic information, forecasts Easter Holiday peaks and troughs on the roads, as schools break up and people take their vacation.
Traffic on Friday 11th April is likely to start at lunchtime with heavier traffic on commuter routes compared to a typical Friday. Depending on the weather, holiday routes will also get busier from mid afternoon on Friday to Saturday, 12th April. Saturday will also suffer from additional traffic travelling to local events and shopping centres.
Sunday, 13th April will be noticeably quieter, as those who typically make the Sunday evening run home, will be staying away until after Easter. Monday 14th through to Wednesday 16th April will benefit from the school break and commuter runs will travel freely.
Thursday, 17th April is forecast to be the busiest day over the holiday, with heavy congestion during the evening on main commuter routes. If the weather is fine, the holiday routes are likely to be busiest on the Good Friday, 18th April especially during mid morning.
Traffic on the Easter Sunday, 20th April is dependent on weather. If the forecast looks good, traffic will be made up of day-trippers travelling towards the coast and scenic areas. Easter Monday succumbs to similar traffic patterns as those on the Saturday and Sunday. There will be an increase in localised traffic, as many special events take place.
Tuesday 2nd of April to Saturday 26th April will remain quiet, whilst people are still taking advantage of the school holidays. Commuter traffic in the week will be very light.
Sunday, 27th April, will suffer from heavy traffic, especially if the weather has been good. The run home will start at around 3.00pm and many major roads will be hit by long delays.
