Toyota Recognizes Federal-Mogul for Quality and Delivery Excellence

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 8 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation was recently recognized with quality and delivery performance achievement awards for 2002 at the annual business meeting of Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America.

Federal-Mogul received a total of four awards in two product groups: Sealing Systems and Powertrain. Each product group was recognized for shipping components with zero defects and for achieving 100 percent on-time delivery during 2002.

"Toyota has been a key customer of Federal-Mogul for a number of years; to be recognized for perfect quality and delivery by a company that is known for its high quality standards is a tremendous honor for Federal-Mogul," said Mike Fisher, vice president sales and engineering, sealing systems, Federal-Mogul.

Federal-Mogul supplies Toyota with exhaust gaskets, valve gaskets, brake booster gaskets, rings and cylinder-liners. Federal-Mogul has been awarded quality and delivery awards from Toyota every year since 1998.

"We did well this year; we hit another home run," said Randy Patton, vice president, piston sales, engineering and technology, Federal-Mogul. "We will work hard to continue the five-year winning streak with Toyota."

Federal-Mogul's Skokie, Illinois, and Athens, Alabama, manufacturing facilities received the quality and delivery honors for Sealing Systems, while Federal-Mogul's Manitowoc, Wisconsin, facility was presented with the two awards in the Powertrain category.

Federal-Mogul's Skokie facility manufactures gasket products for passenger car and heavy-duty engine applications. The facility began operation in 1918 and today employs approximately 1,500 people. Federal-Mogul's Manitowoc facility manufactures piston rings for automotive applications. The facility opened in 1981 and today employs nearly 600 people. Federal-Mogul's Athens facility manufactures seals for automotive applications. The facility began gasket and seal manufacturing in 1992 and today employs approximately 500 people.

Toyota's annual business meeting is attended by all North American Toyota suppliers. The meeting offers an opportunity for Toyota to recognize suppliers that have achieved varying degrees of excellence. Toyota's annual business meeting is also used as a mechanism to share expectations and goals for the coming year with key suppliers.
