7-Eleven, Inc. U.S. Same-Store Merchandise Sales Grow 4.7 Percent; Total Merchandise Sales Rise 6.3 Percent
DALLAS, April 8 -- 7-Eleven, Inc. today reported total sales for March 2003 were $920.7 million, an increase of 15.5 percent over the March 2002 total of $797.3 million. Total merchandise sales for March 2003 were $612.8 million, an increase of 6.3 percent over the March 2002 total of $576.3 million. U.S. same-store merchandise sales for March 2003 increased 4.7 percent, on top of a 1.4 percent increase in March 2002.
Gasoline sales for March 2003 were $307.8 million, a 39.3 percent increase compared to $221.0 million in the prior-year period. Average gallons sold per store increased 2.8 percent in March 2003 compared to the March 2002 result. The average retail price of gasoline for March 2003 was $1.73, compared to $1.30 in March 2002.
Year-to-Date Results
The following results compare year-to-date results through March 2003 to the same period last year:
-- U.S. same-store merchandise sales have increased 4.5 percent, on top of a 3.7 percent increase for 2002. -- Merchandise sales are $1,717.0 million, an increase of 5.7 percent. -- Gasoline sales total $833.3 million, an increase of 45.2 percent. -- Average gallons sold per store have increased 5.9 percent.
