Zeiss Incorporates Perceptron Technology Components For Fastest 3D Scanning on its CMMs
Reduces Measurement Time up to 30%
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 8 -- Perceptron today announced that the Carl Zeiss Company (Oberkochen, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany) has adopted its 3D scanning technology to enable fast, accurate, non-contact 3D scanning and inspection in its new EagleEye Navigator system to reduce measurement time by up to 30% compared to conventional touch probe-based inspection methods.
Zeiss's EagleEye Navigator system creates a total solution for its customers by integrating a compact and sophisticated Perceptron laser sensor and 3D scanning software with a Zeiss SMC/SMM horizontal arm coordinate measurement machine (CMM) to perform data collection and inspection applications. Perceptron's ScanWorks(TM) Toolkit software provides mathematical algorithms that extract dimensional features from a cloud of scan data, such as the location and diameter of holes and slots.
"Our relationship with Carl Zeiss within the CMM OEM market is very significant due to Zeiss' proven leadership in the CMM market," says Bill Corriveau, Perceptron senior vice president.
Zeiss's decision to partner with Perceptron is based upon Perceptron's 22 years of proven leadership in non-contact sensing technologies and in-line quality measurement systems, as well as its manufacturing capability.
Several Eagle Eye Navigator systems are already in operation at automakers such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW in Europe. The Eagle Eye Navigator system can be purchased with new SMC or SMM coordinate measuring machines or retrofitted to work with existing horizontal arm CMMs. It is available worldwide through the Carl Zeiss Company.
