TRANS-AM SERIES HONORS AMERICA¹S MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN
LONG BEACH, Calif. ‹ The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich® Tires Cup race,
scheduled for April 13 during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend,
will pay homage to America¹s military forces. The Series will request every
car entered in the race to carry decals representing America¹s five military
branches‹Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.
Also, a moment of silence will be observed during pre-race ceremonies to
honor those who have died in defense of America.
³We are privileged to honor our fighting men and women deployed at home and
abroad,² said Trans-Am Series Executive Director John Clagett. ³With the
events taking place throughout the world, we thought it was only fitting to
show our appreciation for our military. It is through the great sacrifice of
our troops that we enjoy the freedom we have in this country today.²
The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich® Tires Cup features closed-fendered,
production-based, V-8-powered sports cars. The Trans-Am Series is America¹s
oldest continuously running sports car racing series and celebrates its 38th
anniversary in 2003.
The next Trans-Am Series race is scheduled for April 13, during the Toyota
Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend. The race will air on a same-day,
tape-delayed basis on SPEED Channel at 9 p.m. ET.
