Ichikoh to Produce Exterior Mirrors for Future GM SUVs
NOVI, Mich., April 7 -- Ichikoh Manufacturing, Inc., a global leader in exterior mirrors, has been awarded the contract to supply exterior mirrors for the next generation of GM full size sport utility vehicles. This includes the Cadillac Escalade; Chevrolet Suburban, Avalanche and Tahoe; and the GMC Yukon and Denali models.
The contract was announced today by Anthony J. Martinico, Ichikoh's vice president sales/marketing. "We are extremely pleased with this contract, which represents a continuation of Ichikoh's current contract portion for the full size pick up truck and sport utility vehicles. We are confident that GM will be pleased by the high quality, engineering, and technology of our mirrors."
The mirrors range from manual fold, electrically operated units to sophisticated power fold units with a puddle lamp, turn signal, self-dimming feature, defrost capability and memory setting control.
Ichikoh will supply GM with mirrors from its Shelbyville, Ky. facility.
In addition to the current full size truck and SUV, Ichikoh presently supplies mirrors to GM's Oldsmobile Alero, Pontiac Grand Am, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet S10, and GMC Sonoma truck.
Founded in 1903, Ichikoh has a rich history of innovation in the automotive mirror industry. In 1953, Ichikoh introduced exterior mirrors for Japanese cars. Since then, the company has introduced remote control mirrors, foldaway/breakaway mirrors and flag mounted mirrors.
