DaimlerChrysler Services North America Selects Informatica to Support Enterprise Data Warehouse and Reporting
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 7 -- Informatica Corporation , the leading provider of business analytics software, today announced that DaimlerChrysler Services North America, the world's third-largest captive financial services provider, has selected Informatica's PowerCenterRT and PowerConnect data integration software as part of its Enterprise Information Architecture, including real-time data integration, data warehousing and reporting systems.
DC Services will use Informatica's data integration platform to move data between the mainframe, operational data stores, and the data warehouse to help provide detailed, accurate and timely financial reports to managers in the company's sales, finance, zone, dealer-relationship and customer-support groups across North America, Canada and Mexico.
"Our current data warehouse loading process can take as long as 15 hours to complete," said Chris Diener, CTO and senior manager of technology and architecture at DaimlerChrysler Services North America. "Our goal is to reduce our load times dramatically, improve the manageability of our environments, and increase the productivity of our developers."
After replacing its legacy ETL tools, DC Services plans to use Informatica's data integration products to connect with its message broker platform. This will bridge DC Services' Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) framework for real-time message exchange with its more traditional batch and legacy platforms. As part of the roll-out, DC Services also plans to integrate Informatica's support and administration consoles into its systems monitoring infrastructure to enable efficient and effective management of production data flows.
Plans are being worked out to incorporate Informatica's metadata repositories into DC Services' data dictionary and reporting dictionaries to provide a seamless description of their data lifecycles and business definitions. This will help the company reduce the support, maintenance, training and storage costs associated with maintaining disparate systems.
"In this day and age when financial executives are demanding accurate and timely reporting for compliance with corporate regulations, we are pleased that such a strong global brand as DaimlerChrysler Services has chosen Informatica as the backbone for its financial data-integration and data-warehousing initiative," said Sanjay Poonen, vice president of worldwide marketing at Informatica. "We are pleased that Informatica is able to help DC Services perform such a mission-critical function."
