Delphi Named a General Motors Brazil 'Dream Team' Supplier
SAO PAULO, Brazil, April 7 -- General Motors Brazil recently named Delphi's Harrison Thermal Systems' plant in Jaguariuna, Brazil an Outstanding Supplier. The 10,000-square-meter facility manufactures CVC compressors for automotive climate control systems and has been in operation since 2000.
Every year, GM recognizes suppliers for implementing major cost reductions. Companies that obtained significantly greater savings than in previous years are awarded the Outstanding Certificate of Best Supplier. This year, Delphi, together with three other companies, are being called the "GM Brazil Dream Team" suppliers. The criteria used by GM for this award includes superior performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.
Quality: In 2002, Delphi Jaguariuna was awarded the Banas Quality Award, and in 2001, it was granted the Delphi Excellence Award. The plant was also certified with ISO14001 and TS16949 in 2002. The site has also won a number of Quality Awards, within Delphi over the last 3 years.
Service: Delphi maintains an efficient and qualified team to answer any questions in Engineering or any service that may be required. The Delphi Services Engineering support is available throughout the region.
Technology: The Compact Variable Compressor (CVC) offers many word class and state of the art features that improve vehicle performance. Enhanced system performance and fuel savings is a result of advanced temperature control, non-cycling clutch feature, with dramatically reduced noise, vibration, and harshness. It also is easily assembled into vehicles as a part of air conditioning kits available in the market.
Value: Delphi's objective is to deliver its customers the best performance in terms of products and services, at the best value. Customer recognition has been very positive.
Delphi has operated in the climate control market in Brazil since 1991, when the plant in Piracicaba (SP) was opened. As part of its expansion program, the Piracicaba Operations were consolidated into the Jaguariuna Compressor Facility, where it has become the full service heating, air conditioning, and ventilation facility of today. Increasing production line efficiency and enhanced customer service have already brought the plant recognition by becoming a benchmark in lean manufacturing, organizational effectiveness, and has achieved a world class safety record. The plant offers products and services both to OEMs and to aftermarket.
