Hella Recognized for 42-Volt-Battery System Work
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 3 -- Hella KG Hueck & Co. recently received a Marketing Engineering Award from the management-consulting firm of Frost & Sullivan for its 42-volt automotive-battery wiring-harness system.
The award recognizes Hella, a major global supplier of automotive lighting technology, for integrating various technical disciplines in developing future 42-volt wiring-harness systems. Hella technologies used in the 42-volt research-and-development program included lighting electronics, air conditioning systems, body electronics and sensors.
Power and battery management, light-arc recognition, DC/AC conversion, short-circuit recognition, light control and on-board system architecture were among a variety of issues addressed during the development process, according to Joseph V. Borruso, president of Hella North America.
"Solutions for each of these challenges will be fundamental to the success of our 42-volt system," Borruso said. "The results of this research will flow into the development of other future Hella automotive products as well."
Hella is a tier one supplier of lighting, electronic equipment, sensors and complete vehicle front-end modules to the auto industry.
