Five Companies Plan for the Future by Engaging Design Continuum for Research and Development Projects

    BOSTON--April 2, 2003--Whether it's innovative new product design, research to better understand consumer needs, or futuristic concept development, many companies are preparing for economic recovery by engaging the research, design and development services of Design Continuum Inc. The company today announced five contracts with companies in the automotive, consumer products, industrial and health care industries.

    Contracts announced today by Design Continuum include:

-- Affymetrix : Dynamic design language for the GeneChip(R) Scanner 3000, an instrument about the size of a personal computer used to analyze GeneChip(R) brand microarrays for complex genetic analysis.
-- General Motors : Design and innovation of vehicle enablers
-- MadWaves Ltd: Design and product innovation on the MadPlayer(TM) hand-held music studio
-- Mija Industries: Engineering of En-Gauge(TM), the system that brings wireless monitoring capabilities to fire extinguishers for fire alarm and security systems
-- TOTO USA, Inc.: Industrial design of high-performance plumbing fixtures for the world's largest toilet manufacturer
